Coastal Bridal Inspiration: Cannon Beach Styled Shoot

The coast is calling, Pacific Northwest brides-to-be. To strike the perfect balance of organic, elegant, and effortless, take style inspiration from the awe-inspiring surroundings of the Oregon Coast. From an ethereal tulle veil evoking the mist of the ocean to the deep, unexpected hues of the bridal bouquet, a haze of romance envelops all aspects of this Cannon Beach styled shoot, captured by the talented McKenna Rachelle Photography as a part of the Jeremy Chou Oregon Coast workshop. As an Oregon Coast native, McKenna’s roots certainly shine through the images below.

The First Dance: A Ballet Bridal Editorial

Music and movement are languages of love, and as  the first dance is one of the most emotionally potent points of a wedding, there couldn’t have been a source of better inspiration for this carefully choreographed editorial. Ink & Grain Photography captured the beauty of ballet with blooms by Ponderosa and Thyme and an ethereal Leanne Marshall gown via Portland’s The English Depart. Rich with feeling, this styled shoot juxtaposes soft tulle and pastel petals with striking shadows and bold movement- resulting in the ultimate representation of romance.

Brunch with the Bridesmaids

bridesmaid brunch editorial | Northwed Magazine| Julie Harmsen and Malina Lopez

As the very first editorial planned for Northwed Magazine, this bridesmaids’ brunch editorial was extra sweet to shoot. I had the honor of working with talented photographer, Julie Harmsen-Fitts and food and prop stylist Malina Lopez, who kindly offered up her home and impressive collection of antiques for the day.

The inspiration for this editorial centered on celebrating the excitement of marriage and savoring the gift of friendship. To honor such a special occasion, I dreamed of a setting that was rich with vintage charm and feminine splendor. What could be a better way for a bride to ask her girls to be her bridesmaids than with a modern take on a tea party? Amongst pretty pastries, bright fruits, and candelabras, the delicious, delicate lemon crepe cake by Love and Pie was the star of the brunch table. To make the editorial even more special, the girls surrounding the table are my best friends who I’d gladly call my own bridesmaids one day.

Beginnings: A Spring Wedding Editorial

CarinaSkrobeckiPhotography_NorthwedMag_DigitalSelects033

The promise of spring unfolds with each blossom,
As new life and true love abound,
While wedding bells sing the song of the season,
Filling the air with wondrous sound.

When it came to sharing the vision I had for this editorial, I found that it was easiest to describe in verse. The poem I wrote above speaks to the sentiment of spring, when green stems from the gray of winter and buds become breathtaking blooms. There’s no season more symbolic of the magic that comes from a new chapter, which is exactly what marriage represents.

The title of the shoot,”Beginnings” is also a nod to this shoot being the first wedding inspiration editorial I coordinated for the very first issue of Northwed Magazine. I am so grateful to have worked with such a talented team of ladies. This shoot was a dream come true for me, and it couldn’t have happened without Carina’s stunning photography, Cozbi’s flowers and table arranging, Sarah’s makeup and hair artistry, Camille’s paper design, and Maddie’s mad modeling skills.
